Spring Break: Painted Drywalled Walls!

After living with torn up, exposed insulation walls since moving in in November, we can now have a comfortable room in our house. Our powder room and laundry room are also freshly drywalled and painted, but don't look as nice because they do not have a finished floor or any fixtures - the pictures don't serve justice to the amount of work we did to the rooms.

In the picture below you'll see the (nearly) finished living room. We still need to install trim around the floor, windows, and doors, and paint the doors white. Also, we'll need to install the HVAC vent covers and one more light fixture. I've got the room wired for in-ceiling speakers from the TV, which will be pretty awesome. We're planning to build a custom couch out of two twin mattresses in an L-shape at some point.

It feels great to have a nice, clean room after all of the dust and gross stuff in the air from the insulation being exposed. We worked hard to get this done in one week. In addition to being drywalled, the room was painted three times (the first time with a color we ended up hating) and then two coats of the final color. We moved the fridge to its final resting place from the wall on the right of the picture, making the room feel much more open and grand.

This weekend, we're taking a bit of a break in the renovation to catch up on cleaning and laundry. We might even find time to take our pups on a walk and enjoy the spring weather. We've got the flooring coming within the next week or so to finish the powder room and laundry room, which will really make us feel like we're finally getting things done here. The master bathroom is on our contractors list in a week or so, so we'll have most of the upstairs complete within the next 4-6 weeks. It feels great to look at our hard work and to have our parents and friends who have seen the progress be impressed.
